Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction: a Retrospective Study Comparing 2d Echocardiography and Gated Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (spect) in Clinical Use

چکیده
Objectives The aim of this study was to compare left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) results derived from gated single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) using Cedars-Sinai quantitative gated SPECT (QGS) processing software with results from 2D echocardiography, both obtained in routine clinical diagnostic use. Methods Data from previously performed tests were obtained from 73 patients who had undergone both 2D echocardiography and gated SPECT within a time span of 6 months and had not had significant events that could influence LVEF. LVEF from 2D echocardiography was reassessed to obtain discrete values and then the data was compared using Bland-Altman analysis. Results The correlation between the tests was shown to be good, but precision lacked. Bland-Altman analysis showed a bias of-0.8 percentage points when gated SPECT compared to mean values and 2 standard deviations (SD) ranged from-20.2 to 18.6. Conclusions LVEF values from the two methods can differ quite a bit and comparisons between them should be done with great caution.

Prediction of Changes in Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction after Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery by Myocardial Perfusion Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography
Introduction: Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is considered to be the single most important prognostic factor in patients with previous myocardial infarction. LVEF is not improved in all patients after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). This study aimed to assess the possibility of prediction of LVEF changes after CABG using myocardial perfusion gated signle photon emission compu...
متن کاملSingle photon emission computed tomography: An alternative imaging modality in left ventricular evaluation
Various diagnostic imaging modalities have been used for quantitative left ventricular (LV) parameters. Because of the suboptimal value of the most widely used technology, two-dimensional (2D) echocardiography, 3D ultrasonographic imaging has improved accuracy for LV volume and function. Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) is another diagnostic method where LV volumetric and func...
متن کاملComparison of left ventricular ejection fraction values obtained using invasive contrast left ventriculography, two-dimensional echocardiography, and gated single-photon emission computed tomography
OBJECTIVES Left ventricular ejection fraction can be measured by a variety of invasive and non-invasive cardiac techniques. This study assesses the relation of three diagnostic modalities to each other in the measurement of left ventricular ejection fraction: invasive contrast left ventriculography, two-dimensional echocardiography, and quantitative gated single-photon emission computed tomogra...
متن کاملAccuracy of cardiac CT, radionucleotide and invasive ventriculography, two- and three-dimensional echocardiography, and SPECT for left and right ventricular ejection fraction compared with cardiac MRI: a meta-analysis.
AIMS Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF) are important tools in clinical decision-making. We hypothesized that two-dimensional echocardiography (2DE), three-dimensional echocardiography (3DE), radionucleotide ventriculography (RNV), cardiac computed tomography (CT), gated single-photon emission CT (SPECT), and invasive cardiac cine ventriculo...
متن کامل"W-shaped" volume curve with gated myocardial perfusion single photon emission computed tomography.
OBJECTIVES Gating errors (GEs) with ECG gated myocardial SPECT (G-SPECT) may occur irrespective of the presence or absence of arrhythmias. We evaluated the impact of GEs on both reconstructed tomograms and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) derived from G-SPECT, and searched for clues to identify these errors. METHODS We studied 2 GE patients, 10 normal subjects (NLs), and 10 atrial fi...
